Our Middle School Girl Rising Club will be hosting a bazaar at the Rhoades School on Thursday, February 23, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the Kittle Auditorium and the courtyard. The purpose of the event is to raise money for She's the First, an organization that supports girls in developing countries by sponsoring their education through their graduation. At the event, vendors will be selling goods: bath bombs, essential oils, henna bags, Girl Rising t-shirts, pillows, crafts, Indian clothing and more. Our Rhoades School Girl Scout Brownies have also made bracelets they will be selling at the event. Don't worry about being hungry, there will be tamales, rice and beans and drinks for purchase too! Finally, be sure to visit the bake sale for dessert.
This special event will teach you about gender disparity - its causes, impacts and solutions. The most powerful opportunity, one which 65 million girls are denied, is an education. To help fix this, all proceeds from the bazaar will benefit She's the First, an organization that provides scholarships to girls who will be the first generation of graduates in their family.
To close the event the Club will be showing the namesake Girl Rising film. This film will inspire you with stories about how girls worldwide have been able to jump over barriers set in their way to obtain an education. The event will be an eye-opening night with the potential to change girl's lives around the world. The event is open to all and we hope to see you there.
If you cannot attend the bazaar you can donate online at the Rhoades Foundation Online Store.
